Performance Announcement

My play is going up!

It's hard to put into words just how exciting this announcement is to me. I have been waiting patiently for a while to announce that my play The Smallest Sound, in the Smallest Space premieres at the cell theatre in Chelsea next March. I'm grateful to the cell for their interest in this play, and to my producers at The Why Collective who have been champions of my work for some time. It is an honor to have such inspiring collaborators, and such a great space to share what I've had rolling around in my head since early 2020.

Tell Me More About the Play!

The Smallest Sound, in the Smallest Space follows four graduate-level students of classical singing. Their teacher, Professor Kent Randall, is under investigation by the University for sexually inappropriate conduct, and each student has agreed to provide an anonymous witness statement. As a representative from the University Office of Institutional Compliance interviews each student, their private lessons with Kent play out as their testimonies.

I am part of a community of artists for whom this story is all too familiar. This play is my gift to that community, and I am already humbled by what it has meant to those with whom I have shared it. I can't wait to announce more details as they materialize, and I hope you will attend the premiere weekend if you are in or near the NYC area (or if you want to come visit).

Equally important, if you're a singing actor in or around NYC and you want to hear more about auditions for the project, send me an email!

How Can I Support?

Please consider making a contribution to the cell to help support this project. Donations can be made directly to the cell theatre via this link. You may also make a donation via check, if you prefer. Checks should be made payable to The Cell Theatre with "TWC - Smallest Sound" in the Memo line. Nancy Manocherian's the cell theatre (Artistic DIrector Kira Simring) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit. All donations are tax deductible.

If we are friends / family and you would normally be racking your brain about what to get me as a gift, a donation to help us pay big bucks to the hard-working artists who will throw themselves into this project is absolutely the best thing you could give me this season.

  • Those who donate any amount will receive exclusive access to a collection of four original short stories by me, published as a series here on The Scale beginning in December.
  • Those who give $25 or more will receive access to an advance reading copy of the script before its opening performance.
  • Those who give $50 or more will receive limited-time access to a recording of the play after its closing performance.
  • If you would like to sponsor or co-sponsor an artist fee, please email me directly.

If you're trying to cash in on any of the incentives above, just shoot me an email or a DM with a copy of your donation receipt and I'll make sure to hook you up as the time comes!

Stay tuned for more announcements about this project as they unfold, and I am so thankful for your support.
